UNESCO presented an ultimatum to the Bulgarian ski resort
The World Heritage Committee, protested the Bulgarian Government in connection with the implementation of projects around ski town of Bansko.
According to the organization, construction is under way on the territory of Pirin National Park, which contradicts the law of both the Bulgarian and the EU. This park is included in the list of World Heritage sites, and construction on its territory is forbidden until 2013.
The authorities of Bulgaria, in turn, suggested that the town of Bansko, Dobrinishte and Razlog, where construction is several ski projects from the list of protected areas. UNESCO has refused to do so and said he would undertake a more active protection of the park.
