The United States welcomes the measures taken by Bulgaria to fight corruption in the energy sector

After meeting with Foreign Minister of Bulgaria rosy Zhelev U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said at a press conference in Washington that the United States welcomes the measures taken by Bulgaria to fight corruption in the energy sector and greater transparency.

The meeting discussed issues related to strengthening the strategic partnership between the U.S. and Bulgaria, including in trade-economic sphere.

U.S. Secretary of State reported that in December of Bulgaria’s special representative in Washington on energy issues in the Eurasia region, Richard Morningstar. With regard to the prospects of Bulgaria to be included in the list of states with which the U.S. supports visa-free regime, Hillary Clinton emphasized that this happen immediately after Bulgaria will be fulfilled the necessary criteria.
